ORGANIZATION OF HEALTHY CITIES PROGRAMME |
The interested Municipalities through their own Healthy City Committee initiate Healthy Cities project. They liase with different governmental and non-governmental bodies through the National Committee from whom they request their technical and or financial support.
The Ministry of Health through Health Services is an important source of information on the Healthy Cities concept and in correlation with W.H.O., assist in organizing workshops or seminars that can generate interest and awareness of the Healthy Cities project and give technical assistance on certain Environmental and Health issues i.e.
- Management of liquid and solid waste
- Air pollution
- e.t.c.
A high level of awareness about the Healthy Cities concept has been establish amongst both the Public Health Inspector of the Medical and Public Health Services, those employed by the Municipalities and other Municipalities officials. |
FUTURE PLANS |
The participating Municipalities are advised to implement various useful projects. Our goal is to be aware on what it is happening in other countries, to coordinate the implementation of the various projects, to increase the number of Municipalities which are participating in the Healthy Cities project and to expand the project to our villages.
This will give the opportunity to our participants to share the problem and gain experience from other Healthy Cities/Villages, communities, and colleagues that successfully tackle similar problems.
